Abstract

In the modern world, successful cooperation between experts of any field is a result of effective communication, which is impossible without strong vocabulary skills. This makes the formation of lexical competence in future bachelors in applied mechanics such an important topic. The assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning process and cannot be underestimated. It may, however, be associated with a number of challenges for teachers, such as lack of time or objectivity. The ability to keep up with innovative technologies in the realm of education, which is especially vital in our digital age, may help overcome some of the listed issues. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has opened new opportunities in vocabulary assessment making it easier and faster for both the teachers and the students to track their progress. To study the use of AI in lexical competence assessment it is crucial to define the key concepts.
