HEPARIN-INDUCED THROMBOCYTOPENIA

Abstract

Thrombosis is a major underlying mechanism of a significant number of cardiovascular and CNS diseases. However, not all patients obtain the same degree of benefit from antithrombotic therapy. Such lack of clinical effectiveness may be associated with considerable interindividual variability in response to antithrombotic treatment. One of the basic groups of drugs used for the treatment and prevention of thrombosis is anticoagulants, including heparin.
