IMPROVING THE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY OF BIMETALLIC BEARINGS TO ENHANCE OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN MARINE ENGINES
Abstract
The reliability of marine propulsion systems is heavily dependent on the quality of bimetallic sliding bearings. This study proposes an improved manufacturing technology by introducing a specialized composite cooling medium during the solidification process. The research focuses on the microstructural refinement of B83 Babbitt and its adhesion to the Steel 45 base. Experimental results, supported by SEM analysis and tribological testing, demonstrate that the proposed cooling regime increases adhesion strength by 85% and reduces wear intensity by 60% compared to traditional methods.
