ENERGY-EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT OF HYBRID MARINE PROPULSION SYSTEMS
Abstract
This study investigates methods for improving the control effectiveness of marine combined power plants in order to enhance their energy efficiency and environmental performance. In the context of increasingly strict international regulations on ship emissions, particularly those defined by MARPOL Annex VI, the development of advanced propulsion and control systems has become a critical engineering task. The research focuses on series and parallel combined power plants configurations and proposes an improved control strategy incorporating a shaft machine and a controllable pitch propeller (CPP). The results demonstrate that optimized control of hybrid propulsion systems allows for reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions, and improved operational flexibility, especially under variable load and maneuvering conditions.
