ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION OF FAMILY RELATIONS IN THE «GOROGLY» EPIC (BASED ON THE VARIANTS OF KHOREZM BAKHSHIS)

Abstract

This article explores the artistic representation of family relations and traditional values within the epic cycle of "Gorogly," specifically focusing on the variants preserved in the repertoire of Khorezm bakhshis (traditional epic singers). The study examines the artistic reflection of fundamental family values such as respect for parents, continuity of lineage, marital loyalty, and kinship solidarity – embedded within the narrative structure of the epic. By analyzing the performances of renowned representatives of the Khorezm bakhshi school, including Qurbonnazar Abdullayev, Bola Bakhshi, and Rozimbek Bakhshi, the research highlights how the epic tradition serves as a socio-cultural institution for transmitting moral norms. The findings indicate that heroic epics are not merely tales of martial prowess but profound pedagogical tools that reinforce the integrity of family and community in Uzbek folklore.
