THE EFFECT OF CHRONIC INTOXICATION WITH HEAVY METAL-CONTAMINATED FEED ON THE FUNCTIONAL STATE OF RAT KIDNEYS
Abstract
The particular danger of heavy metals lies in their ability to accumulate in living organisms, become incorporated into metabolic cycles, form highly toxic organometallic compounds, and undergo transformations while moving between different environmental compartments without undergoing biological degradation. As a result, they can cause both acute and chronic poisoning.
