Abstract

Endoscopy is considered one of the most essential diagnostic methods for gastrointestinal diseases because it allows direct visualization of the mucosal surface of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, colon, and small intestine. Unlike indirect imaging modalities, endoscopy enables clinicians not only to observe pathological changes but also to perform biopsy, remove polyps, stop bleeding, and conduct minimally invasive therapeutic procedures.
