COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF SULFUR-BASED CONCRETE (ENVIRONMENTAL ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS)
Abstract
In recent years, the intensification of environmental problems worldwide, climate change, and the increase in the use of natural resources have necessitated the creation of environmentally friendly materials in the construction industry. The construction s ector is one of the largest sources of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, with particularly large amounts of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere during the Portland cement production process. According to international studies, the cement industry accounts for a significant portion of global CO2 emissions. Therefore, the development of alternative binding materials that can partially or completely replace cement has become one of the priority areas of modern materials science. One such promising material is sulfur-based concrete. This material uses sulfur as a binder, which, in its natural or modified form, forms a high-strength composite in combination with mineral fillers.Author Biography
