MODERN APPROACHES TO OBJECTIVIZATION OF PERIPHERIC NEUROPATHY AS A CONSEQUENCE OF CHEMICAL THERAPY: THE ROLE OF CLINICAL SCHEMES AND MOLECULAR BIOMARKERS

PDF

Abstract

Purpose of the study. To evaluate the diagnostic significance of clinical scales and molecular biomarkers in patients with peripheral neuropathy due to chemotherapy. Materials and methods. The study included 115 subjects: 41 patients with peripheral neuropathy due to chemotherapy, 38 patients without clinical signs of neuropathy, and 36 practically healthy individuals. All subjects underwent a comprehensive clinical and neurological examinat ion using the Total Neuropathy Score (TNS) scale and the visual-analogue pain scale (VASH). The laboratory study included determining the concentration of light chain neurofilament (NfL) in blood serum and evaluating microRNA expression as potential molecu lar biomarkers of peripheral nervous system damage. Research results. Quantitative assessment of neurological disorders showed a significant increase in TNS and VASH indicators in patients with peripheral neuropathy compared to the comparison group and practically healthy individuals (p<0.001).
