DURATION OF DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES OF SOYBEAN VARIETIES GROWN UNDER DIFFERENT IRRIGATION METHODS

PDF

Abstract

Water availability is an important factor determining the growth and development of soybean. Changes in soil water supply can influence the rate of plant development and the timing of reproductive stages, including flowering and physiological maturity. Therefore, evaluating the duration of soybean development under different irrigation methods is important for assessing varietal adaptation and optimizing crop water management. The duration of soybean development is strongly determined by genetic characteristics. Liu et al. (2016) studied 146 soybean cultivars and found significant variation in days to flowering, flowering-to-maturity duration, and days to maturity. The authors also demonstrated significant effects of genotype, environment, and genotype × environment interaction on these traits. Photoperiod is another major factor regulating soybean developmental duration. Wang et al. (2021) demonstrated that photoperiod regulates both vegetative and reproductive development in soybean and that genetic variation in GmRAV is associated with differences in flowering time and maturity.
