LABORATORY MARKERS OF INFLAMMATION AND MYELIN DAMAGE IN CHILDREN WITH CONSEQUENCES OF ENCEPHALITIS AND CEREBRAL PALSY AFTER NEUROINFECTION

PDF

Abstract

Purpose of the study. " to evaluate the diagnostic significance of neural imaging, neurophysiological, and laboratory indicators in children with organic CNS damage after neuroinfection" (this thesis examines laboratory indicators). Research materials and methods. 176 children aged 7–17 were examined (63 with consequences of encephalitis, 58 with cerebral palsy after neuroinfection, and 55 practically healthy children in the control group). General blood analysis, biochemical studies (total protein, albumin, ALT, AST, urea, creatinine, electrolytes), determination of C-reactive protein (CRP), ESR, interleukin-6 (IL-6), myelin basic protein (Myelin Basic Protein, MBP), and ferritin were performed. Statistical processing: Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney test (p<0.05), Spearman's correlation analysis. Research results. General blood analysis indicators revealed moderate but statistically significant intergroup differences, with no deviation from age norms in most children: leukocyte levels in Group I children were 8.1±1.9×109/L compared to 7.2±1.6×109/L in Group II and 5.9±1.2×109/L in the control group (p<0.
